The Today page: who is waiting on you this morning
Today is the first screen you see when you open re:praesent. It lists the people who contacted you and have not heard back, the tasks due today and the deals that have no next step. You read it in a minute and you know what to do first.
The first ten minutes of the day
An electrician opens the workshop at seven. Two people wrote through the website last night. One customer left a voicemail. There is an offer he promised to send on Friday and did not.
None of this is hard work. The hard part is remembering all of it while the van is being loaded.
Most owners carry this list in their head, or in a paper notebook next to the phone. That works until a busy week. Then one person is forgotten, and that person calls someone else.
What the page shows
Today starts with one sentence. If three people are waiting, it says “3 people are waiting on you.” If nobody is, it says “All clear.”
Below that are three short lists.
- Needs you. Every new inquiry that has not been answered, with how long the person has been waiting. People you tried to reach and promised to call again appear here too, when the day comes. Each row has Call, WhatsApp and Email buttons.
- Due today. The tasks that are due, with a note on anything overdue. You tick a task off right there.
- Deals with no next step. Open deals where nothing is planned. Tap one and the app asks “What’s next?”
On the side you see the last 30 days in four numbers: how many people saw you, how many contacted you, new customers, and what you earned. The full picture is on the Results page.
Mine or Everyone
If you work alone, you can ignore this switch.
If you have a team, the switch at the top is labelled “Whose work” and has two settings. “Mine” shows only what is assigned to you. “Everyone” shows the whole business.
A kitchen studio with two salespeople uses it like this. Each person starts the day on “Mine”. The owner looks at “Everyone” once in the morning to see whether anyone has been waiting too long.
How a morning looks with it
- Open re:praesent. Read the sentence at the top.
- Call the people under “Needs you”, starting with the one who has waited longest.
- After each call the app asks “How did it go?” Tap an answer. The person leaves the list.
- Tick off the tasks that are done.
- Give every deal on the third list a next step.
When the lists are empty you are finished. New inquiries appear as they come in during the day.
On a phone, a button above the list reads “Go through the list”. It shows one person at a time. We describe it in the post about calling people back.
What it does not do, and what it costs
Today is a to-do list. It is not a report, and it does not try to plan your week for you. Each list shows a few rows and a “See all” link for the rest.
It only knows what is in re:praesent. An inquiry that arrives through your website form, the booking page or the website chat shows up by itself. A person who walks into the shop has to be added by hand, which takes a few seconds with “New inquiry”.
It is part of re:praesent, which costs €300 a year or €30 a month. Everything is included and there is no fee per user. The pricing page has the details.
Questions
Do I have to set anything up before the Today page works?
No. It fills in as soon as inquiries, tasks and deals exist. When you start, it shows a short “Get set up” list with things like putting a contact form on your website.
Can my employees see each other’s work?
Yes. “Mine” shows your own work and “Everyone” shows the whole team, so nothing is left behind when someone is ill or on holiday.
What happens when I have called someone and nobody answered?
Choose “No answer” and pick a day to call again. The person leaves the list and comes back on that day, marked “Call again”.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The same page works in the browser on your phone, and you can put re:praesent on your home screen so it opens like an app.
