re:praesent on your phone, with alerts when someone asks
You can put re:praesent on the home screen of your iPhone or Android phone straight from the browser, without an app store. Once it is there, it can send you an alert when someone contacts you, when a task is due and when your day starts. You choose which alerts you get and during which hours.
The inquiry you see at nine in the evening
An electrician is on a site all day. A homeowner fills in the form on his website at eleven in the morning, asking for a quote. He reads the email at nine that night.
By then the homeowner has called two other electricians.
He would have answered in time if he had known. The email sat in an inbox between supplier newsletters, and nobody was looking at that inbox on a ladder.
Putting it on your home screen
Open re:praesent in the browser on your phone. The Today page shows a card: “Put re:praesent on your home screen”. It gives you the steps for your phone.
On an iPhone, in Safari:
- Tap the Share button, the square with the arrow.
- Choose “Add to Home Screen”.
- Open re:praesent from the new icon and sign in once with the code from your email.
On an Android phone, in Chrome, the card has an “Install” button. If it does not appear, tap the three dots at the top right and choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
From then on it opens like any other app, full screen, with one tap. There is nothing to download from a store and nothing to update by hand.
The alerts
After installing, the app asks once whether you want alerts. Tap “Turn on alerts”. There are three kinds, and you can switch each one on or off under Settings, “Phone alerts”.
- New inquiries. The moment someone contacts you, with a tap to call them back.
- Tasks when they’re due. When a task assigned to you is due.
- Summary when your day starts. Who is waiting and what is due today, in one message.
You can also decide whether names show on the lock screen. Switched off, the alert only says “New inquiry” and you see who it is when you open it.
A “Send a test alert” button lets you check that it works. The page lists every phone and browser that gets your alerts, and you can remove one, for example an old phone.
Active hours
Nobody wants a ping at dinner. Under “Active hours” you choose the days and the times when alerts may reach you.
Outside those hours re:praesent holds the alerts and sends one summary when your hours start again. On days you leave out, alerts wait for your next active day.
A barber who is closed on Mondays leaves Monday out. On Tuesday morning he gets one message with everything that came in.
Limits and cost
On iPhone and iPad, alerts only work in the app on your home screen, and the iPhone needs iOS 16.4 or newer. On a computer, alerts work in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, though they are most useful on the phone.
If you blocked alerts by accident, your phone’s own settings decide. The app shows you the steps to allow them again.
If you prefer email, summaries by email are still available.
It is part of re:praesent, which costs €300 a year or €30 a month. Everything is included and there is no fee per user. The pricing page has the details.
